“Woman in set”: The first Artist-in-Residence program of Sedicicorto International Film Festival
With the participation of Emanuela Ponzano (director/actress) and Alice Rotiroti (screenwriter/director)
Since 2004, Associazione Sedicicorto is actively engaged in the promotion of cinematic arts and has made the encouragement of independent films, particularly short films, the main objective of its activity, in order to present to a diversified public the various manifestations of the contemporary cinema industry.
Moreover, the Association wants to offer, on national territory, fixed meetings of cultural and international contents, focused on the exchange of opinions and ideas concerning the improvement of the event. In pursuing these objectives, Sedicicorto calls the attention on important social topics, like the issue of migrants, the acceptance of otherness, the struggle against bullying and gender discrimination.
According to these concepts, the artist-in-residence program Women in set is born to give relevance to women working for the entertainment industry, especially in the film industry. As it is, in the last decades the number of women who specialised and reached professional competence in the field of film direction, screenwriting, editing and cinematography has considerably risen. Still, the gap between men and women regarding contracts, rights and retribution remains meaningful.
Emanuela Ponzano and Alice Rotiroti will be coordinating the project and will share their work experience with the participants, in a context where professional competencies and values are free to be told and shared.
The project will last, according to the general regulations for artist residency, one week from 4th to 10th October 2019, in Forlì, while the 16° edition of Sedicicorto International Film Festival occurs. This way, the participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of the festival, as well as attending several screenings of the movies in contest.
The primary intent of the project will be for the participants to produce a short film of no more than 5-minutes-length that will be first presented at the 17° edition of Sedicicorto International Film Festival and compete under the CortoInLoco section (regional section).
Sedicicorto Association will open the call for application on 3rd June 2019 in view of selecting 4 female artists under 30 years of age, divided into 4 categories: film direction, screenwriting, direction of photography and film editing. Rules and regulation for the applicants can be downloaded from this link:
Deadline for applications is 30/07/2019.
N.B.: The application is open only on the Italian territory.
