The film festival with the world’s youngest jury
Cesenatico’s fiery week-long show of animated short films
Event promoted by Cooperativa stabilimenti balneari di Cesenatico (Seaside Resort Cooperative of Cesenatico).
It’s now the time for the 8th Festival ANIMARE 2018. Our awaited screening of animated short films for children is unique, as our small audience will act not only as simple viewers, but also as an active part of the contest. The jury will be composed of about 100 children, with age ranging from 3 to 13, that will have the power to declare the Festival’s winner.
The 18 films that have made it to the finals come from 4 different countries: France (8), USA (4), Russia (2), Hungary (1), Germany (1), Holland (1), Singapore (1). Sedicicorto has been in charge of the selection. The films that have been chosen come from a selection of 681 films from 65 different countries. Their engaging plots came to life thanks to various animation techniques: 2D, 3D, stop-motion, drawings on paper, etc. – The result? Films created with the utmost professionalism.
And now the final decision is in the hands of the young jury members. The voting phase will feature an original system with caps to assign votes. The youngest will feel what it means to be seasoned jurors. Between the screenings the young film critics will be interviewed, and they will surprise you with their accurate reviews, as they never fail to do.
Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th, Thursday 5th: the days during which the awaited competitions will take place. The formula of the matches will be a head-to-head, and the 6 winners will face each other in the big finals on Saturday 7th.
The chosen films are the absolute best the international film production has to offer to the young audience. In the last years we have shown many films that were nominated for Oscars, or that were transformed into full-length 3D films, which have been extremely successful all over the world.
On average, the 16 films are 4.5 minutes in length. The winner of the contest will be awarded a money prize of 500€. The entry is free.
In case of bad weather, the screenings will take place in a different location that will be reported on the website.Translated by: Claudio D’Amico
